Conservation Aids assist professional staff in a variety of projects involving the conservation and preservation
of the State's natural resources.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation. OR Incumbents perform basic tasks or elements of the job not requiring the additional knowledge, skills and abilities to perform at the next level in the series.

Positions perform a variety of duties related to wildlife management, conservation and wildlife ecology. Most positions are of a 3 month duration over the summer months, working four 10 hour days in the field and camping at remote location sites on the workdays. The Sage-grouse Lek Count technician will be involved with data collection and data entry. Data collection will be conducted in very remote locations.
The divisions that have the current seasonal openings include Fisheries Management, Game Management, Wildlife Diversity, and Habitat (Wildlife Management Areas and Wildlife Water Development).
Some positions may require a valid driver's license at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
The locations that are currently being recruited for include Reno, Fallon, Winnemucca, Yerington (Mason Valley), Elko, Ely, Boulder City, Panaca, Las Vegas, Overton, and Wildlife Management areas near Hiko and Lund.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and six months of experience assisting in resource conservation projects or wildlife management projects; OR completion of 15 college credits in wildlife management, biology, or closely related field; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience; OR six months of experience as a Conservation Aid I in Nevada State service.
Work may be performed under adverse weather conditions and include extensive walking under difficult conditions, camping in remote, primitive locations.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
